Report from the Mixed Traffic Weekend. June 5th/6th/7th 2015
Thanks to all our readers that came and supported the Mixed Traffic Weekend.
On the Friday, 59003 worked a train to Minehead and a dedication ceremony took place by GBRF before the loco was stabled on the turntable. We had a good day with all locos out bar D832. In the evening D1661 got a decent load- 11 coaches for the evening "mega train".
On Saturday the events went well, unfortunately the visiting Class 56 suffered some issues with the fuel system and had to be rescued by the Class 45 from the Leigh Bridge. An efficient rescue was performed with the Class 45 in section from Crowcombe-collect train-Crowcombe within 21 minutes. The timetable took a significant hit for the rest of the day, though all other locos performed well.
On Sunday, another good day, the visiting Class 45 suffered a few problems and was quickly assisted by D7017.
Overall some excellent weather and a good event.
Pictures below from Simon showing the Class 14 out and about. The loco was used for shuttles between Norton and Bishops Lydeard with the Class 09. It also worked several trips over the full line.
D7018 and D7017 are pictured together in the sun- hopefully some double headed Hymek action is not that far away. Next years gala perhaps?
Finally GBRF's immaculate Class 59003, which has just returned from many years in Germany and been taken on by GBRF for use here in the UK.
