Update 21st May. By Matt Cambourne with photos by Leroy Ford and Martin
Various work took place last Saturday as the Gala looms ever closer!
D1661 was out on the DMU diagram covering one of the first revenue earning running days of the year.
Meanwhile on shed Mark was busy carrying out welding repairs to a Warship roof panel.
Dave, Simon and others were busy working on D9518 and D9526. The restoration on D9518 is now well underway with progress being made on the cooler group.
D1010 has suffered a loss of vacuum fault. As the pictures below from Leroy indicate at the top of this selection, the problem is apparent! Neil and Gordon spent some considerable time cutting the affected pipe out in what can be described as Willitons answer to keyhole surgery! The team will now work on this to get the loco back fit for the gala. The locomotive was going out on a Driver training test run, but this had to get pulled due to the vacuum fault. Leroy spent most of the day giving the loco a good clean and polish.
Ian, Darren and Cameron spent time today freeing up the air tanks under D6566 ready for removal. The underframe of the locomotive was given a good clean as well taking advantage of the fuel tanks being out the way.
a selection of photos from the day the Warship and Hymek made it to Bishops Lydeard for underframe exam a couple of weeks back.
